Profotos Staff Evaluation:
Renato Valterza's work in
the field of professional travel photography began in the 1970's,
while he learned to develop and process his own prints as a student
at the University of Torino. Throughout his three decades of
image-making, Renato has greatly impacted the professional photography
market in Italy and beyond, with the inspiring use of color he
incorporates in his images.
Renato's main influences in photography include some of the
greatest masters of the craft to ever live: Robert Sisson (N.G.S.),
Ernst Haas, and Pete Turner. Renato actually studied under these
masters during the 1980's, as he was developing his own style
as a photographer! It is no small wonder why Renato's work in
color photography is so beautiful and inspiring - he studied
under Ernst Haas (the father of modern color photography).
Through the thousands of kilometers, which Renato has traveled
during his career as a photographer, he has captured thousands
of images that speak of the peoples and landscapes he has encountered.
One of Renato's main purposes in working as a professional travel
photographer, has been to document the vanishing nature of many
countries such as Madagascar, Poland, Siberia etc.
