In 1987 he started his first long trip to North America where he found his passion for photography. His second long trip brought him to places like China, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and Japan. After this 2 ½ years of travelling he started with slideshow lectures about his travels. From 1994 to 1995 he was studying photography at the Masters-class for photography in Vienna. Oliver Bolch is still a long-time traveller, spending month or years in one region. He is the photographer of 20 pictorial-books about Australia, Canada, China, Thailand, Austria, South Tyrol, Greece, Croatia, Poland, The Baltic Countries and East Africa with German, Swiss and French publishing houses Bucher, Bruckmann, Südwest, terra magica and Hermé.
