The countless hours I've spent observing and photographing animals in their habitats have lead me to a profound appreciation of our fellow creatures and a respect for their intelligence and personhood. For 20 years I lived close to nature in a remote cabin in Washington's North Cascades--the first 15 without electricity and only accessible in winter via cross country skis. I literally know what it's like to live out there and have always thought of the wild animals as my closest neighbors.
