Artist's Statement
Portraits as Art. That’s how I approach my portraiture – creating an artistic moment of the individual or group, be it musician, mother & child, maternity, family, father, son...
I have been shooting digitally for several years now and love the freedom of expression it allows. I consider Photoshop a valuable tool to help create the final image. I love photographing women in their final month of pregnancy as it captures the maternal beauty they may have forgotten. I use fabrics to grace their bodies and lighting to sculpt their fabulous shape.
I also enjoy working with musicians for cd covers and images, probably because of my personal musical past. I was a founding member of the vocal jazz group ‘Rare Silk’. We recorded 3 cd’s, were nominated for 3 Grammy Awards and toured extensively for 6 years. My 10-year involvement with Rare Silk is still a huge part of who I am and affords me an insightful approach to photographing artists and musicians. Music usually becomes an integral part of the photo shoot, no matter what or who I’m shooting.
I have a studio on the north side of Denver in the Taxi building where I enjoy the company of other artists and designers. My client base ranges from musicians to corporations to designers to families & individuals desiring an artful approach to portraiture. Portraits as Art. It’s what I do.
