I am a freelance photographer based in Edinburgh, UK.
In addition to regular stock photography I have worked on numerous commissions. Events covered include the Edinburgh Arts, Fringe, Book, and Film Festivals. I have travelled to many locations across the globe including North America, France, Holland, Italy, Dubai, and Sri Lanka.
I work with both digital and film. I believe that each has its place and relative advantages/disadvantages.
Being a professional photographer I consider myself to be in a very fortunate position. Its hard work, the income can be erratic. Starting in the industry or trying to make your mark requires sheer dogged determination. However the rewards are being able to travel, experience cultures, see sites, attend events, and speak to people I would not encounter in most professions.
My photographic influences are many. I very much admire the work of the Magnum agency photographers. In particular the work of Ernst Haas, Elliot Erwitt plus many others. I'm always to drawn strong images which speak for themselves without the need for accompanying text.
Looking forward I plan to travel more and concentrate on photojournalism. North America and Sri Lanka will be amongst my list of favoured destinations.
