In September 2001 aged 50 years, I found myself looking for work. (I was a self taught Horse racing Photographer for 3 years as a 17 year old but had virtually not handled a camera since). Of course by 2001 digital was starting to hot up and being a keen follower of new technology I bought as many books as I could, scoured the world wide web and started from scratch again.
I operate a Hicam system which is an air operated telescopic pole which extends up to 65ft (20m) in height. This apparatus enabled me to approach Real Estate Companies in my hometown of Auckland and the rest is history - as they say. While Hicam business represents only around 35% of all my shoots, it gives me a point of difference over my colleagues. I recently completed 10 weeks without a break - including all weekends and most nights!).
I am fortunate that my biggest client Bayleys Real Estate
(www.bayleys.co.nz) is New Zealands leading marketer who regularly publishes their own glossy magazines including "Waterfront" which displays some of New Zealands finest coastal properties for sale. I am by far the largest single photographer contributor to their publications from their Head Office in Auckland NZ.
I have a mobile digital darkroom/studio/office which enables me to travel anywhere and process on the spot. The vehicle is fitted with every extra including hot and cold water! (further details can be seen on my website).
