I first discovered photography when I took a Photo course as an elective in college in the '80's. From then on I never stopped shooting and learning.I continued my education as a photo major at Ohio University. I spent a few months working at studios and a few years shooting to learn the craft and develop my own personal vision.
I currently live in Pittsburgh,PA where I do architectural and other commercial photography assignments. I have always continued to do my own personal work and stock photography.
Nature has always given me some of my greatest inspiration to make pictures.
I live in an area that has it's own natural beauty but is not as noted for it's obvious scenic places as some other parts of the country. I admire those scenes we all know so well from the Rocky Mountains and the western states but my style of nature photos can literally be found in my own backyard as well.
I try to go beyond the documentary view of a scene and discover a world of visual qualities that entice me to make a photograph. Many times I go back to a place more than once to capture a picture when the quality of light and time of day, season and weather transform it into a dramatic scene. I do a lot of scouting whether I'm out shooting or keeping notes as I'm driving or walking along.
I shoot many other subjects as well, including travel, city, architectural, black and white and more. A recent example is a series of toned black and white prints from infra-red film that has been exhibited nationally. My stock photos have been published in various places and are represented by myself and stock agencies.
The pictures here represent a small sample of my work. All are available as limited edition prints and for publication.
I continue to shoot to produce new portfolios and expand my stock library. I am currently working on and considering ideas for book and calendar projects.
