I am not the typical fashion photographer. Not even close. I spent my twenties, fighting forest fires, digging gold in the Yukon and commercial fishing in the Bering Sea. All of these wholesome activities where done with a camera firmly attached to my eye. I traveled far and avoided meaningful employment whenever possible. Adventure dictated my travels. Much has changed.
I am now somewhere in my thirties. The aimless wanderings of my past are gone. My camera is still attached, but now my passion for photography dictates my travels. The people, color and flavors of Central America now call me. Though, obligations and commitments keep me.
I pursue fashion with a continued sense awe. A combination of model and photographer, light and form. Reality portrayed as fiction through a lens that lies. Some might say fiction portrayed as reality. Either way, its a fantasy etched with light upon film or computer memory. Are my images worthy of such poetics? Probably not. I am new to fashion and its allusions, but the elusive line between cheesy commercialism and art drives me. I have always pursued my passions. Someday I hope I will define that line.
