Maarten Udema, born 1960, is a Dutch photographer who works for a variety of editorial and commercial clients, including magazines, airline companies, publishers, advertising agencies and travel companies, among others. For over two decades, Maarten has been travelling and photographing the seven continents which has helped build up his reputation in both Holland and Europe. He has won several awards, including first, second and third prize Fuji Press Award and has had private and group exhibitions. His favourite destinations are where it is possible to let go of photographic expectations and in doing so making the unexpected possible. People, nature, wildlife and adventure are nessecary ingredients. Striking a balance between location photography, studio photography and digital technology, Maarten manages to be both an original and a technically advanced photographer. Maarten said: "Of course I can photograph what you have drawn for me but I think everybody is looking for something personal, something extra. That something extra is me”.
