Born in Philadelphia, USA in 1958, Tom Mackie achieved a degree in commercial photography at Hawkeye Institute of Technology, Waterloo, Iowa and spent the first five years of his career working as an industrial photographer in Los Angeles.
Unfulfilled by the confines of a commercial studio, he began exploring the vast landscape of the western States, and so began a love affair with landscape photography that endures to this day.
In 1985, having decided to set-up as a full time landscape photographer, Tom settled in the UK and quickly established a wide network of clients in calendar, book and magazine publishing. Working with medium, panoramic and large-format equipment, his understanding of light and bold use of colour results in images of exquisite beauty, and he has come to be regarded as one of the country's most talented specialists in the fields of landscape, travel and architectural photography.
In recent years, Tom's skills have earned him accolades from The British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP), the Ilford Awards and the Business Calendar Awards. He has also lectured to other professionals on the art and craft of landscape photography.
Based in the UK with his wife, Kim, and twins Jessie and Brandon, he continues to travel widely throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, regularly adding new work to a library of over 20,000 first-class images that are in great demand all over the world.
