My educational background is primarily art based. I studied Art History, Photography, Typography, and Graphic Design for three years at Salisbury College of Art from 1981.
I later undertook a Foundation Degree in Creative Digital Arts which familiarised me with industry standard software for multimedia and web design. Wishing to focus on still imaging, I then chose to complete the BA (Hons) PhotoMedia (Photography) course at Salisbury College. Whilst computer manipulation was becoming increasingly popular, I had chosen to experiment [and now favour] "in camera" effects. I graduated with first class honours in November 2003, having specialised in the technique of "Light Painting", and also received an Associate membership with the British Institute of Professional Photography for earning a Distinction in their Professional Qualifying Examination.
I have since taken my interest in macro photography into the more extreme field of photomicrography, using a microscope. However this area of work is more to satisfy personal curiosity, rather than produce anything remotely considered 'art'.
