Christopher Record is an accomplished photographer who uses his extensive journalistic background to create story telling wedding photography.
Record has worked as a reporter, picture editor, director of photography and staff photographer at three different newspapers. He uses this experience to bring a unique eye to wedding coverage.
His assignments have taken him to most major cities in the United States. He has covered a wide range of stories including presidential events and visits, a Billy Graham crusade, offshore textile factory issues in Costa Rica and Honduras, national high school rodeo competition in Wyoming, North Carolina river pilots, Trappist monks near Charleston, major hurricanes and thoroughbred racing at Saratoga Springs among others.
He has also done extensive coverage of the NFL, photographed many college basketball Final Four tournaments and several major championships in professional golf.
Record's work has received numerous awards and he was recently named runner-up Southern Photographer of the Year.
His work has been honored by the prestigious National Press Photographers Association Pictures of the Year contest, the Southern Shores Resort Course on Photojournalism, the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, the Society of Newspaper Design, the North Carolina Press Association and the North Carolina Press Photographers Association.
Record has been a Photographer of the Year in North Carolina and was twice named runner-up. He also had a portfolio of sports photographs place second nationally in the NPPA Pictures of the Year contest.
His work has appeared Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, ESPN the magazine, USA Today and many other publications including books on the Carolina Panthers and NASCAR and a photojournalism textbook.
Currently a staff photographer with The Charlotte Observer, Record lives in Charlotte with his wife, Betsy, and children Alison and Sean.
