Joseph Pobereskin was born in New York City and became interested in photography at age twelve. He was educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology (New York) and through several apprenticeships, acquiring expertise in various disciplines. While his photographic interests cover a broad spectrum, he specializes in location photography for top-level Advertising, Corporate and Editorial clients with an emphasis on environmental portraiture and business. His commercial and editorial assignments have taken him around the world and have led to publication in more than fifty countries. In addition to his work making images, Pobereskin has been very active in the photographic community advocating for photographers' interests and is a founder and past (2000 - 2002) International Board of Directors member of Stock Artists Alliance, a global trade association for producers of rights-managed stock photography. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of his local chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP); and is a member, vocal supporter and promoter of Creative Eye, a photographers' cooperative.

Mr. Pobereskin lives near New York City with his wife and two children.
