Marike was born and raised in beautiful Namibia where she matriculated . For the past 12 years she has lived with her husband and two beautiful daughters on a family farm near Piketberg in the Swartland Region of the Western Cape, close to the West Coast of South Africa.
She got involved in photography about 7 years ago and it became an instant passion of hers. She has found the tool of her creative expression in photography. "People often ask me why am I so passionate about photography. Well, the answer is simple. I acknowledge the fact that a camera points both ways, and by expressing my impressions and perceptions of the world around me, I also reveal a lot about myself.
With photography I have learned so much about myself, the creation and my creator and the greatness we so often take for granted. It is these little miracles I want to share with others. Using creativity to express oneself, is the only tool I know to make any Image one's own. And if one is willing to share that with others, I have found that, not only do other people recognize a part of themselves, but very often, find some answers to questions, long been asked.
With my workshops, I have planned to give any persons interested first, the tool of photography and second, the tool of creativity to express themselves. Together with these tools, they will have an environment of friendship and camaraderie in which to practice their skills, not only as a photographer but as a creative person."
