I bring an eternal love of the wild to my photography, and have spent the greater part of my life exploring, hiking, and climbing the coastlines, mountain ranges, and deserts of California and beyond. The natural landscape is the landscape of my soul, and I am incomplete without it. My photographs are not so much an attempt to make what I see into art, but to share the art that exists naturally within the landscape.
Photographing the ephemeral and things changed or erased by time, by the elements, or by fleeting light, much of my work is visually complex yet compositionally simple. I am drawn to harmonious natural arrangements and to dynamic lines and shapes, and these often subtly reside within my images. Because I am moved by natural rhythms and the interaction of elements more than I am by objects, my photographs tend to reveal new discoveries and insights with each visit.
I work exclusively with a large format view camera.
