When Dante’ Staciokas initially created Image Wurks, the idea was to legitimize his 20 years experience in street photography in providing travel, editorial stock, and event images to an expanding client list. Because while talent and experience allowed him a modicum of success, he discovered that the real truth, to be able to be more than just a little successful - was in knowing a truism. Businesses prefer doing business with a business. The unwritten, hard and cold fact of image marketing philosophy is that freelancers, especially those who submit unsolicited material, get little respect and are often regarded as amateurs rather than professionals. Image, more than his images, is what sells.
Combined with his career in the transportation industry, Dante’ was able to merge his 1st profession with his passion which led to creating ad copy projects and recognition in his field as a creative force. Soon, the corporation he worked for allowed him free reign in designing their graphic advertising for publishing. This led to contacts in the publishing business which he parlayed into a reputation for ‘getting it right’.
Not content with being pigeon holed into any ‘type’ of images he produces, Dante’ prefers to photograph ‘things or people in their element’. He has a great respect for studio imaging but thrives on the ‘now’. This might explain his love for photojournalism. “The shooter’s that give up everything”, he says, “the ones that go into a war torn country to bring back the reality, they are my heroes in this business.”
