Carsten's passion for photography started back in his childhood and some years ago he turned this passion into a professional career.
He is now working as a freelance photographer specializing in outdoor themes. He is working for several stock agencies around the globe and his work is published in magazines, calendars and books.
Themes of his work range from landscape and environmental photography to commercial work and digital imaging.
As one of the first photographers in his genre he abandoned film emulsion completely and started using digital equipment. Although shooting digital is still being rejected by most nature and landscape photographers Carsten feels this is the best medium to produce the images he wants.
Conservation issues play an important role in his work. He supports several environmental groups and eco tourism activities and has been working as picture editor/photographer for the Irish environmental magazine rocky road. Since 2003 he is also working as staff photographer for the IPCC (Irish Peatland Conservation Council).
Carsten recently launched his fine art print collection and 2006 will see the publication of his first book.
