Mr. McClain's interest in photography began while traveling with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Training Unit in the early 1970's, then off to Dallas for more formal photographic training. Since then he has been living in Salt Lake City, Utah and has had his own studio there since 1980. He also enjoys snow and water skiing, hangliding, windsurfing, kayaking and many other sports available in abundance in Utah's varied terrain.
His images, stock and assignment, are used by a truly wide gamut of businesses including Advertising Agencies, Graphic Designers, Art Directors, Architects, Contractors, Manufacturers large and small, Interior Designers, etc. Images he creates grace the covers and pages of brochures, catalogs, annual reports, newspapers, magazines (editorially and advertising), billboards, coffee table picture books, and calendars. They have also been used for the backgrounds of several television news sets, on buses, trade show displays, many Web Sites .....and again the list goes on and on.
Rick still enjoys the challenge that each new assignment brings although sometimes the most difficult challenge in a job is convincing the client that simply taking a "snapshot" isn't going to sell the product; but that creating dramatic photographs will produce dramatic results. He doesn't "take" photographs; he "creates" them.
His experience in traditional photography, careful lighting, attention to detail, and his creative digital artistry work to produce images that are sure to show off his client's products, services, and ideas to their utmost. His images are designed to grab your attention and hold it.
Mr. McClain works with a sensitivity for clients' needs and direction, is easy to work with, and creates wonderfully eye catching images, too!
