Hanspeter Hunziker was born in a small, picturesque town in Switzerland. On weekends the family of seven would go hiking in the Swiss mountains and forests, enjoying the scenery, looking for flowers and gathering mushrooms. Like his parents and his siblings, Hanspeter loves nature. As a young boy he figured out how he could freeze those beautiful moments and communicate them to others: By taking pictures. He discovered soon how much satisfaction and joy it gave him to work with a camera, his first one being a small Exakta. He and some of his buddies from school started to meet on Saturdays showing (off) and comparing their newest work.
Although Hanspeter then chose a career in computers he never gave up on photography. He traveled widely in North Africa and the Mediterranean and part of the fun was always bringing home pictures. But his desire was not only to shoot pictures, but really good pictures. He wanted to enhance his technique and sense for seeing and composition and started to attend seminars and courses. He also read and studied everything he could find about photography and practiced, practiced...
In 1989 Hanspeter and his wife moved to California, where they currently reside in the Coachella Valley. The first few years Hanspeter still worked full time as a Systems Engineer and did photography on the side. Encouraged by sales and exhibitions he now has chosen to work as a professional photographer part time. Hanspeter's work has been exhibited at the Costa Mesa Showcase Gallery where he was featured artist of the month. He has sold fine art photography in stores and his pictures have been chosen for business brochures. His work also is being used in various calendars in Switzerland.
