I’ve been exploring photography for more than 30 years, and I’ve been working with digital imaging for the past 8. I’ve traded a traditional darkroom for a Mac computer and Photoshop, Freehand and several other software programs.
I do all my printing digitally – using the Giclée process and imported watercolor papers traditionally used for watercolor and fine art. I’ve embraced the digital aspect of photography because it enables me to enhance or manipulate images in ways that haven’t been seen before.
I start by shooting with traditional 35mm and 6X7 cameras and film. Sometimes I’ll transfer the images to Polaroid film with image transfer as the final output solution. I then scan these image transfers and manipulate them further in the digital process. I only shoot color film – if I decide the image works best in black and white I’ll drop the color out digitally.
I hope you enjoy my images – and if you’d like to purchase them, they’re available for sale through my website at jimmysiegeldigitalart.com.
