Portraiture on the cutting edge of the medium. This is a short explanation of Michael Wilce's work in professional photography. Michael's locatiion portraiture images carry with them, a very evident "sense of place," which draws the viewer into the photograph and gives a direct connection to the subject matter. Not many photographers have the ability to produce this connection between viewer and subject - Michael Wilce has this ability.

Several elements of the traditional image-masters are employed within Michael's images. Great lighting, excellent contrast, intuitive burning and dodging, and flawless composition. Along with these elements, Michael takes his work a step further, by introducing some less traditional elements into his images. A few of Michael's images are lit from areas where we would not expect to see the main light source. His beautiful renditions of natural lighting situations are at the top of the league!

We thouroughly enjoyed every moment we had, while reviewing the work in Michael's portfolio. His understanding of the elements, which go into making an outstanding photograph, can be described only as - mastery.
