Profotos Staff Evaluation:
Fine art photography can
sometimes go beyond the photographic realm, and into an artform,
which looks very similar to the canvas of a master painter. The
images in Jerry Olson's portfolio are among these photographic
images, which look as though they were created by the strokes
of a brush. This type of photography is well beyond the scope
of most photographers, but is pursued by many.
Jerry's longstanding career spans the course of over 30 years,
which started when he began photographing in the Navy during
the early 1960's. After his honorable discharge from the Navy,
Jerry attended classes at the University of North Dakota, and
then proceeded to graduate from the Brooks Institute of Photography
in Santa Barbara, CA. Since his graduation at Brooks, Jerry has
been hard at work documenting the landscapes of the Western US.
The images in Jerry's portfolio are among the very best Western
U.S. black and white landscapes in the world. Very few photographers
can capture the incredible beauty of this region of the Earth,
like Jerry can.
