Lisani Otag's fine art images are both intriguing and inspiring. Our staff found the work in Lisani's portfolio to include several mysterious traits, which are unique in their style and composition. This unique style can be attributed to Lisani's long-time understanding of imaging and design elements, which are different from many others in the mainstream.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Lisani's work is his ability to merge traditional imaging techniques with digital technology. This ability goes far beyond the scope of many designer's and image maker's possibilities, as it includes several elements of advanced imaging.
Our staff truly enjoyed reviewing the portfolio of this masterful image maker and we believe you will feel the same way too. Lisani Otag is not your everyday imaging-professional. He is at the top of the league...period.,In 1956, I was born in the town of Poli. I am still living in North Cyprus and I am a Cypriot. In 1980, I graduated from the department of dental surgery at Istanbul University. I’ve been taking care of my patients nearly for twenty years.
From the beginning of 1800’s, as the advances have been made about the area of photography, this branch has attracted my attention since every moment of my life. But here, it was not possible to add something from myself. In order to work with the fixed numbers of the camera and I have to accept the photograph coming from the camera. In 1990, by buying a professional camera, I seriously began to be interested in this area . Through my knowledge of physics and my knowledge of optic, I can say that I easily learned lots of things about photography. In a short period of time, I started to comprehend and produce. In 1992, with the new born of my daughter I focused my attention more than ever. To tell the truth, my daughter became my photo model. I can say that, I took thousands of photograph of my daughter. Naturally, I got lots of experiences from this studies. I applied different technics of shots and prints. I gave lots of things from myself by searching, reading and experimenting without getting help from anyone. In spite of the technical disadvantages in Cyprus, as I am passionately interested in photography, I applied the technics of shots and prints both.
For years, I applied my studies by the classical methods in the room as you all know dark room. By applying the two periods of technical evolution. This had become a great experience and a knowledge for me. Digital, in other words, the technology of computer, I almost use all the techniques of photography. I am making my own prints and I am trying to produce the best. By saying digital, although I sometimes have surrealist studies. I use the digital application as a make up for the women and always try to take the naturalism into consideration first. I transfer my photographs into my computer. After I complete my studies till here, I get quality prints as good as A3 paper from my printer.
Of course, there needs to be a little time for all this. The weekends, holidays, my journeys, these are all opportunities for me. I can not understand how the time passes as I am doing it willingly. So that, after I started working with the photography, a new light has entered into my life.
Now, I see objects and events from different point of view. I discovered brand new life around my circle. This is an occupation which cannot be described.
To be successful in photography, you have got to have enough patience. You have to be a good observant. The seconds of one out of ten, one percent or one out of thousand these short moments, you take little crosscut from life and you have to know when and from which angel to look at. Because photograph; is a place on the paper where the light and time meet and stop forever. This is the best description of photograph for me.
For the last one year, I have been dealing with the branch of photography called Astrophotography. In Cyprus, one of my unique study is to view the real orchids by the camera in its original place in the nature.
As one famous artists says; if the artists plugs something from nature, that doesn't belong to the nature. And I get great pleasure from what I do. Getting the first winning awards in the state photography competition in 1996 and 2000, this has encouraged me to look at future more brightly.
