An avid photographer since the age of 15, Gerard Kingma now specialises in travel and landscape photography. His photography is characterised by a strong sense of composition, a balanced use of colour - sometimes bold, sometimes subtle, and a desire to capture the essence of a subject by excluding all superfluous elements from the frame. He has travelled many countries including China, Ireland, Norway, Portugal and Madeira, but his most intimate landscape pictures are from his home country Holland.
Gerard Kingma is represented by French photo agency FDB in Paris, and he sells his home-made Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) prints in a local art gallery. Fine-art prints and hi-res scans can also be ordered on-line at http://www.kingma.nu.
Gerard uses a Canon EOS 5 with lenses by Canon and Sigma, with the Canon f2.8 200 L, the Canon f2.8 28-70 L zoom lens and the Sigma f2.8 14 mm as his favourites. "But don't focus too much on technicalities and equipment", he always says. "A good picture is in your mind, not in your camera".
