Stocking is an award winning professional freelance photographer
specializing in soulful and artistic interpretation of the Landscape.
Based in Phoenix, his work frequently graces the pages of Arizona
Highways, Magazine, Books and Calendars, as well as many national
publications. He is known for his marvelous use of light and
dramatic compositions.
Born in Ohio, raised in Philadelphia, he moved west at the age of 18, landing in Arizona as a result of running out of money on the way to California. This was a fateful accident, as he immediately realized that the desert was perhaps the most unique and mystical landscape imaginable; and began calling it home. The year 2001 finds him entering his 7th year as a full time landscape photographer, making a conspicuous impact in the extremely competitive southwestern United States market. Ranging from Mexico to Canada, he shoots 6X7 and 4X5 formats for maximum quality. Recently he won the Arizona Highways Award for the best photography in the Magazine, calendar year 1999. In addition to Arizona Highways, his work has appeared in Backpacker, Outdoor Photographer, USGA Golf Journal, Country Magazine, Audubon Calendars, Adventure West, America West Airlines Magazine, Portal Publications (posters), Impact, Towery Publications (books) and Smith Southwestern.
